Fifth Grade

The 5th grade classes this week have started a unit on World Drumming. World drumming is a fun and exciting way to enhance our musicianship in the classroom. Our objective for this unit are:

• To extend our ensemble abilities that we worked on last year
• Adding singing to be done in conjunction with drumming
• Challenge students to create/improvise their own ensembles through absorption of the concept of Rhythm Complements-Learning to play in the spaces left by other players.
• Continue movement as a means of physically internalizing meter structure.
• Add Call and Response to Echo and Question and Answer patterns.
